Cigar Review – AJ Fernandez New World Dorado

Cigar specs, rating and review
AJ Fernandez New World Dorado
Smoked August 2023
Acquired from: box purchase
Vitola: Robusto size, about 5-1/2 inches x 52 ring gauge
Approximate price US$ = $10 single stick
Review Notes:
The New World Dorado band and box is a gold motif (Dorado means gold in Spanish) and was introduced in 2022. I purchased a box on spec at the suggestion of a viewer and am very happy I did. By AJ Fernandez standards, the New World Dorado is not a strong cigar, maybe medium-full at most.
Construction is excellent, burn started out a bit shaky (see video) but corrected itself with absolutely no help – impressive! Draw and smoke production were flawless. So it’s a well made cigar, but what about taste? That’s where the New World Dorado really stands out – it is lacking the typical AJF spice punch, but makes up for it with a unique combination of nuts, vanilla and caramel. In the video I actually invented yet another pretentious flavor to describe cigar taste – Caramel Macchiato! Take that, Cigar Aficionado! But pretentiousness aside, this is a really good cigar, I highly recommend it. Ratings:
Strength/boldness: 7.0/10, a hint of spice but balanced by other flavors
Quality of Smoking Experience: 9.0/10, this is a solid cigar
