Review Notes: Davidoff is one of the big names in high-end luxury cigars, and the Davidoff Grand Cru is one of the most popular cigars in the Davidoff “White Label” series. This is a mild cigar, with what little spice there is being offset by the very smooth, well blended Dominican filler.
I’ve not had a great deal of experience with Davidoff cigars, but the few I’ve had were unimpressive at best, a waste of an expensive cigar at worst. Having said that, the Grand Cru lives up to the Davidoff reputation – flawless construction and burn, a notably pleasant aroma, and sturdy wrapper as Connecticut cigars go. Taste was a notch above the average Connecticut but it didn’t blow me away. All in all, this is a very good cigar, but I question whether it is worth the US$600 per box of 25. See my earlier review of the Drew Estates Undercrown Connecticut, which as good a cigar in the US$10 range. But for a special occasion, the Davidoff Grand Cru would be an excellent choice.
Ratings: Strength/boldness: 2/10, extremely well balanced to offset a small amount of spice.
