The Olmec is named in honor of the oldest known group of people in Mexico. Living in a lush tropical climate, the Olmecs were one of the first known peoples to grow and smoke tobacco. The wrapper on the Olmec Maduro is grown from seeds descendent from the original Olmec tobacco.

Olmec is made by Foundation Cigar Co. whom you may know from smoking The Tabernacle, El Gueguense (The Wise Man) or Charter Oak cigars.

This is not an overpowering cigar in boldness or flavor, but I found the coffee/mild cocoa/moderate spice combination to be very pleasing. – Big positives for this cigar are construction, draw, burn and overall excellent quality. Draw was perfect, burn straight and no issues whatsoever with unraveling or cracking. If you’re familiar with other Foundation cigars you likely have had a quality product (maybe Charter Oak cigars, their low-cost brand, can be a little iffy at times).

Okay, let’s rate this cigar: I liked the flavor profile, it is interesting but not overpowering. Construction near perfect, and pretty full-bodied, but may not be bold enough to impress those who like strong maduro flavor bombs. Rated body 8/10 and smoking experience 8.75/10. This cigar is definitely worth trying.
