If you’re new to using a butane lighter, refilling a butane torch lighter can be a bit intimidating. This how-to tutorial gives step-by-step instructions on how to refill a butane lighter, safely and confidently. The how-to steps can be applied to almost all brands of lighters, whether the butane torch lighter is for cigars or craft projects.
The basic steps for refilling a butane lighter are as follows:
(1) find flame adjustment (screw or dial) and turn to minimum
(2) purge air from lighter by pressing the gas valve in until hissing sound stops (see video for details)
(3) put nozzle of gas cannister over valve and press – hold for 3-4 seconds only
(4) reset flame adjustment to the desired level
(5) test lighter, adjust flame as needed
