Definitely rolled the dice on this one! Do you make impulse cigar buys now and then? I certainly do, which is how I ended up with this giant sampler box of Oliva cigars.
This box is a 2021 Holiday release by Oliva. If you recall, I also did a 2022 Advent Calendar box opening in December, 2022. This box is billed as a “Holiday Countdown” instead of an Advent Calendar, but basically the same idea.
Since this is a 20-month old box (it was billed as a 2021 Holiday Countdown) it was blown out on CigarPage at US$59.95, which is under US$2.40 per stick. Please, please note – Cigar Page works solely on “pop-up sales,” so that price is long gone. When I posted this video, one viewer got pretty upset that the price had gone up to $149 within a day or two after I posted the video. My guess is that the “free shipping” deal on this cost Cigar Page almost the selling price, since the box was about 48 inches x 15 inches x 4 inches in size.
Anyway, at $59.95 that is a bargain I was will to take a chance on, even with 20-month old sticks. I was relieved to find a humidity pack, still in almost-new condition, and after the video was shot but before posting, I smoked one of the Melanio cigars, a Serie G and a Serie V – they were all perfect, with the usual Oliva good burn and flavor. So I feel like I rolled the dice and won.
