Box opening of the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua cigars!
Since its release in late 2020, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary cigar has received a number of awards, including the #2 cigar for 2021 by Cigar Aficionado magazine. These are US market (aka “New World”) Montecristo cigars. Non-Cuban Montecristo cigars have not got a lot of respect the past (in some cases deservedly so) but in the last decade, the US Market Montecristo has come out with a few very good cigars. The 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua cigar is a shining example of an excellent smoke. The 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua is a collaboration between Montecristo/Altadis Rafael Nodal and A.J. Fernandez, two very well respected cigar creators. In fact, all of the tobacco in the 1935 Anniversary is grown on A.J. Fernandez farms and cigars are produced in one of the A.J. Fernandez factories in Nicaragua. So ironically, this is a Nicaraguan puro cigar sold by a company based in the Dominican Republic, intended for sale in the US market.
